Award winning Gold Cast based Condev Construction has secured a mulit-million dollar refurbishment contract with 24 state schools as part of the Federal Government’s stimulus package.
The projects, worth a combined $4 million, will see Condev building and refurbishing classrooms, adding shade structures and completing IT and playground upgrades at schools across South East Queensland.
Condev director Steve Marais says contracts have been secured with schools on the Gold Coast and across Brisbane.
“Locally, we will be working in Southport, Keebra Park, Coombabah and Pacific Pines State High Schools with the remaining contracts in inner-city Brisbane and its outer suburbs,” Mr Marais says.
“This work is a natural extension to our construction arm’s capabilities, however the work in Brisbane will also give us an opportunity to showcase our capabilities to the wider industry.
“This fits with our plans of developing activity nodes further afield in south east Queensland and northern NSW in order to gear up for future growth. “
The National Building – Economic Stimulus Package is worth $16.2 billion and started its three-year roll out in February with aims of improving the education resources available to school children and teachers nationally.
Mr Marais says the Federal Government funding will serve not only as a great boost to the school’s resource portfolio but also provide plenty of employment opportunities for local tradespeople.
“As a growing company we have a large database of tradespeople who will benefit from the roll-out of the contracts,” Mr Marais says.
“We are especially pleased in this regard to be able to provide employment opportunities within the local community.”
Condev has recently been appointed to build a $9 million mixed-use commercial project in Byron Bay’s CBD which commenced construction this week.
