With the success of the CONDEV cycle kits, the CONDEV peleton is now in excess of 100 riders across south-east Queensland. As a celebration of cycling and the wonderful environment we enjoy on the Gold Coast, our resident professional and good friend Robbie McEwen invited CONDEV riders to join him on a 96km ride.
The route took in the Gold Coast shoreline to Kirra, over top of theTerranora hillscapes, down through Tumbulgum before ascending to past Tropical Fruit World and into Salt.
Over 60 riders decked in their Condev suits enjoyed a brisk 30+ kph pace the ride. Ensuring the peleton maintained a tight formation, Robbie navigated the riders through the back roads constantly checking on the trailing riders.
After a quick pitstop at Salt, the refreshed and slightly smaller peleton cruised through Kingscliff, Banora Point and Tweed Heads before the day's heat became overwhleming. There were a few young guns keen to make their mark with a burst of speed up the final few kilometers of Mallawa Drive. To their dismay, Robbie was not about to contest the sprint.
Thank you to all those who participated and we look forward to another CONDEV group ride next year.
